Phyllis has a real knack for teaching. She has all the qualities anyone would want in a teacher. She's kind, patient, encouraging, and has a gentle way of explaining and demonstrating technique that makes even the most shy student feel at ease.
Phyllis has been teaching at every level for more than 30 years. She teaches at the University of Kansas. She teaches young children in her home as well as in group classes. She teaches the adult beginner as well as more advanced students. She meets the students at their own levels and then trains them to gain all the skills required to develop as successful and satisfied harpists.
Students advance through individual one-on-one instruction in a private setting and weekly group lessons. In the group lessons they learn how to play together, refining their techniques and expressions. They also begin building confidence in the private setting, enabling them to branch out and play for others in their families or communities. Phyllis arranges many such events, including recitals and public performances throughout the area.
